Why I’m Doing This
Because I know exactly what it feels like to be where you are.
I’ve lived the late nights, the endless editing queues, the panic of not knowing where next month’s clients will come from — and the frustration of realizing talent alone isn’t enough to grow a business that lasts.
I spent years (and thousands of dollars) on workshops and education, trying to piece it all together. Some of my peers made it for a while, but when the economy shifted or COVID hit, they folded.
Meanwhile, my studio has continued to grow — year after year, through every challenge — because we built a system that works.
That’s why I offer these mentoring calls: to give photographers the clarity they need to move forward.

About Melody Yazdani
Over 19 years ago, I started my career with nothing but a camera and a drive to create. From supporting family as a single mom and a solo entrepreneur, I grew from shooting on-location, to a 1,200-square-foot studio, to a beautiful, well-appointed 4,000-square-foot space — now home to a team of seven, including four associate photographers I trained from the ground up.
Since those early days, I’ve built one of the most successful luxury portrait studios in the D.C. metro area — serving thousands of clients and earning over $3 million in revenue.
But beyond business, giving back has always been part of who I am. I’ve organized fundraisers, donated my craft to community projects, and serve as Vice Chair of an event that raises over $290,000 annually for local charities through my Rotary Club.
This industry — and the people it touches — have given me so much.
This mentoring call is one of the ways I give back.
